Usirikaya Roti Pachadi (Gooseberry / Amla Pickle)

Ingredients :
1. Gooseberry            : 1 kg
2. Salt                        : 1/2 kg
3. Red chillies            :  6 no
4. Black gram            :  1 tbsp
5. Split gram              :  1/2 tbsp
6. Fenugreek             :  1 tbsp
7. Mustard                 :  1 tbsp
8. Curry leaves           :   7 no
9. Turmeric                :   3 tbsp
10. Hing                    :  pinch

Procedure :

1. Cut gooseberies into 4 pieces each and remove the seeds.
2. Grind all goosebery pieces. Add salt,turmeric. Mix well and place in an air tight container                  and store it for 3 days.
3. Now with a dry spoon, take 4 tbsps of gooseberry mixture and keep aside. You can use the remaining mixture in the below steps as and when you need.
4. Heat oil in a pan add red chillies, black gram, split gram, fenugreek, mustard, curry leaves, hing and fry till dal / lentils turn reddish in colour.
5. Now grind the fried dal / lentil into a coarse powder, add gooseberry mixture to this powder and grind them to a form fine paste.

Usirikaaya Pachhadi is ready!!!
